I applied online and received a very enthusiastic follow-up from one engineer. However, I was then handed over to the CTO to schedule an interview.
Rather than scheduling an interview, the CTO sent me a "we're not interested" email.
Further investigation revealed that the CTO's Twitter account is very highly political and not in favor of human rights. It then became clear that the CTO looked at my Twitter, which is in favor of human rights and was requested during the application process.
So, I was passed over for political reasons.
Demanding ideological purity.
