Full Stack Engineer Interview Experience - Toronto, Ontario

Process

The technical interview was with a team lead. It was definitely not easy, but I did manage to complete all the questions asked.

The job description mentioned that this was for an in-person role, so towards the end, I asked the interviewer about it. He said he had no idea where the office was and that he had never been there himself.

A few days later, I wrote in a follow-up and received a "we've decided not to move forward with your candidacy" response. Six months later, I see that they are still hiring for this role (or perhaps it's a rolling job posting to get candidates on their internal roster).

Questions

Find the best time to shut down a machine, given a string of server statuses ("1 0 1 0 0 1") and a time that the server was taken offline (where 0 = running, 1 = offline).
