Process

The interview process feels like overkill. It requires about 8-10 hours of time spread over 2 weeks:

  • Initial phone screen (0.5-1 hour)
  • Technical interview/coding test (1 hour)
  • Writing task (1-2 hours)
  • Integration/coding test (45 mins)
  • Coding test (45 mins)
  • Collaboration and sales interview (45 mins)
  • "Thinking on our feet" (45 mins)
  • Hiring manager interview (45 mins)
  • "Office fit" (1-2 hours)

This is unusual for Australia. Typically, there would be 1-2 rounds of interviews, perhaps a take-home task, but nothing that requires this level of dedication and time, especially when travel is factored in.

I'm unsure if they are accepting all applications and attempting to reduce candidates through the sheer number of tasks and rounds, or if shortlisting occurs and they simply have an inefficient interview process.

The one positive aspect was that the recruiter was extremely responsive, and the next round was arranged very quickly after completing the previous one.

Questions

The coding tests were simple, involving tasks like "given an array of arrays, find the minimum value for a given key."

The writing task involved several questions, some with code snippets, that were experiencing integration issues.
