I was contacted by a Stripe recruiter. The recruiter was good, and then it was a 1-hour live coding phone interview. Basically, I was sharing my screen.
The question was average, but the interviewer was the biggest problem. He was a junior developer and kept interrupting me from the very beginning when I was reading the problem. It was a list of hash maps, and the problem scenario was database-related. He kept saying 'columns,' 'blabla,' and asked me to read examples. For some edge cases, he was reluctant to write down examples for me.
I solved the algorithms and wrote all test cases in Java in IntelliJ.
The next day, I received feedback: I was not strong enough to be at Stripe.
I have to say the interviewer didn't have much interview experience. I'm not sure what they expect to hire. Forty minutes with a working and bug-free method, along with five sets of unit tests, is not considered strong enough for them.
