I applied through an employee referral.
Was gaslit by the Hackerrank description text which said verbatim, "This is a bespoke challenge custom-written by Stripe engineers. Unlike generic algorithmic tests, this problem is designed to reflect the real-world engineering work we do here."
Spent a week plus practicing more Stripe-like problems, i.e., data sanitization, string parsing, transaction processing, etc. Then started the Hackerrank and was met with an incredibly canonical algorithm (admittedly one I was rusty on) with farcical Stripe operations language as a dressing: "At Stripe we work in windows.... [explain standard DS&A problem involving intervals]"
What a load of malarkey.
TL;DR: Study your algos folks, don't let them fool you otherwise.
