When I was reading all this weird feedback from other folks, I was not sure why it was like that. After going through the process, I realized there is either a lack of clear communication about what the company wants to do with the interview, or they are just wasting people's time.
The interviewer will ask you to solve a coding problem, which is not very difficult, on your favorite editor and favorite coding language. They will tell you multiple times that they want to solve the problem as quickly as possible without worrying too much about optimization, and then run it against some tests. After doing everything you were asked for throughout the process, they will decline, saying they don't want to move forward with your candidature.
I have been conducting interviews for so many years and have appeared in many places; this is the most surprising experience I have ever seen. I don't think anyone would mind if a little more information could be provided on why they were declined.
