Software Engineer Interview Experience

Process

1 hr technical screen: Easy coding question focusing more on code quality, language proficiency, testing, and approach.

5-hour virtual onsite:

  • Easy coding round similar to the technical screen.
  • Bug squash: This was hard, and I performed the worst on it. Given a GitHub repo with four issues, debug them so tests pass.
  • Integration: Given an API endpoint that takes a JSON map of data and returns an image file. Parse a JSON file, transform and send data to the API, and save the response as an image file.
  • System design: Standard problem, similar to other companies.
  • Hiring manager: Behavioral.

Interviewers were all great, honestly. The process was very smooth, with quick responses from the recruiter and excellent organization.

The only flaw was that I wish they provided feedback after the interviews. Decisions were quick, but there was no feedback.

Questions

Given a fork of a popular Python repo with a test suite. There were 4 issues on GitHub.

Work through each bug and fix so that tests pass.
