Pros
  • Had an opportunity to work with the best team ever guided by the best manager ever, who was a very friendly, passionate, and inspiring team member
  • Access to multiple tools integrated to test and prod environments
  • Highly talented engineering teams with an average work experience of 6 years
  • Competitive bay area pay and good benefits
  • Decent perks like frequent on-campus events, snacks, food, and celebrating special occasions
  • Shuttle service from San Jose to the SF office
Cons
  • Upper management have difficulty in managing issues faced in legacy application and unable to scale or handle on-sale events.
  • Suggestions to improve or fix issues are ignored frequently. Do not understand why and what is the politics behind it. Fixing issues should have been priority 1.
  • Struggling to meet aggressive and irresponsible budget goals posted to parent company.
  • Layoffs: Employees on work Visa are dependent on employer, and there was no prior analysis on the impact layoff could have on work visa employees and their families. They have to hurry and find another opportunity within the limited time of a 60 days grace period, otherwise it would result in out of status making them leave the country (Imagine selling their home, car, household stuff and years of stay in this beautiful country is on a timer counting days. Should he search for buyers to sell his house or should he search for new job? Can only imagine the stress he and his family should undergo). I understand it is business as usual and we keep listening to such layoffs here and there, but we engineers put heart and soul, work hard, spend countless hours and take responsibilities, strive to make an impact big or small, and it cannot be business for us, it is at a personal level. Employer should have a minimum courtesy to at least let the engineer know in advance in the event of layoff, at least for work visa engineers, so that they have some time to find another opportunity. To add more pain, we had layoffs in early December; upper management decided to layoff when there are no opportunities outside in this vacation time as a gift for Christmas. Had 3 hours time to leave the office, and had to hurry up to send out farewell emails to amazing teams we worked with (it was Friday, usually work from home for many teams) after attending HR, Attorney meetings and completing last day formalities. I felt this was a very rude, irresponsible and ignorant way of handling its full-time employees. After this ordeal to close to 100 employees, I strongly do not recommend anyone to join this ruthless company. (After writing this review, I know this is one of those reviews, but this is the only platform where I can pour out my thoughts and the experience I had. Thanks to Glassdoor)
Advice to Management
  • Be responsible, provide achievable budget goals, and do not lay off engineers so ignorantly.
