The office is in the World Trade Center.
Engineers are heavily monitored and pressured to complete 1-week sprints and churn out as much code as possible at the cost of code quality, documentation, and efficiency.
People seem to get fired from this company alarmingly often, and they treat their employees as disposable and temporary. The team is given little to no explanation when this happens and is expected to carry on as usual with fewer people.
No manager at this company can actually manage. The feedback culture here is to only deliver negative feedback and find the smallest excuse to belittle employees, with no plan or next steps for improvement. Any career conversation reaches a dead end because the level requirements are unclear. Literally none of the managers can do their jobs, and they use 1:1 time to belittle and antagonize employees instead of working with them to grow their career.
The ex-viagogo people who hold senior leadership positions are very protective of their archaic engineering practices. They hire individual contributors with loads of experience but refuse to listen to ways to change the codebase for the better.
The expectation on the engineers to complete one-week sprints in addition to brainstorming and experiment analysis on a weekly basis is insane. So many engineers work late hours and experience burnout, yet this has become the expectation rather than the exception. Engineers have taken to managing themselves since the managers can't do their jobs.
Please fire the current engineering managers or at least convert them to ICs. Hire actual people managers to develop the engineers and take care of actual leadership stuff.
Super easy coding question and system design. Not LeetCode style. System design: design an email system. Please don't just walk away; please run. Both questions are super easy, but their hiring process is broken. Constant reschedule interviews, ne
I applied online. The process took two weeks. - A recruiter phone screen. - A 90-minute codepair. - A 60-minute system design. The codepair problem is not too difficult. You design and implement something that represents a small service. The system
Basic phone screen (experience, describe a project). They then had me schedule a pre-screen Codesignal assessment. The pre-screen needed to be completed within 3 days of receiving it. There were 4 questions in 70 minutes.
