UI Engineer Interview Experience - India

Process

45 min Initial Telephonic Round:

This round primarily covered my current work, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ReactJS, Web2.0 Standards, and Data Structures and Algorithms.

Immediately after the interview concluded, I received a call from HR informing me that I had cleared the round.

F2F at Target:

This was a peculiar round. The interviewer asked only four very basic questions, three in JavaScript and one in ReactJS. I answered all of them correctly.

Following my responses, he mentioned that multiple interviews were happening that day and that HR would call to inform me if I was shortlisted. He then asked me to leave.

I contacted HR afterwards to inquire about my status. She checked and informed me that I had not cleared the round. I was surprised, as I was confident in my answers, especially given the basic nature of the questions.

Out of curiosity, I called HR again to explain how straightforward the interview felt and to ask for the reason for rejection. She stated she had not received specific feedback from the interviewer and would follow up next week.

Overall:

  1. HR was very responsive and polite.
  2. The telephonic round had more challenging questions than the F2F interview.
  3. I felt the F2F interviewer lacked significant knowledge in JavaScript and React.JS.
