Pros

Reasonable pay for hourly staff. Reasonable base pay for starting managers. Lots of great on-the-job experience in critical management areas such as personnel, scheduling, multitasking, customer service, critical thinking, and maximizing relationships. With the number of stores opening up, opportunities to promote if you are willing to relocate several times.

Cons

Being a discount retailer and attempting to have the best customer service is a paradox. It is a constant battle to choose whether you want fewer associates so you can be profitable, or you want more associates so you can give great customer service.

Advice to Management

Understand that managers at the store level are aware they are expected to make up for the hours they cannot spend on associate hours. Every time there is a reduction in hours available to produce the same (or more) sales, it is another arrow of friendly fire in the back of those on the front line.
