Pros

As a large corporation, they have more resources than small ones.

Cons

Many:

  • Stores are too big; they need to simplify and consolidate.
  • There is no organized/detailed training program with tests/etc. for new supervisors/managers (especially those who have never supervised others before).
  • They push the red card goals way too much. If you're a great company (e.g., Wegmans, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Apple, etc.), you don't need to push any store credit card.
  • The grocery store idea was a horrible idea in areas where Wegmans, Whole Foods, and Trader Joe's exist. Management should take significant pay cuts for making horrible decisions like this.
  • They need to promote & raise wages more based on performance versus length of time at the company.
  • They need to simplify everything.
  • They waste a lot of money on useless signage and advertisements. Money would be better invested in employee wages. Many of the best companies don't need to advertise much (e.g., Apple & Whole Foods).
  • They are too strict with uniform rules. They should look to Whole Foods & Apple and others for guidance.
  • They are too corporate. Top employees are treated just like numbers.
Advice to Management

Resign for better management, or think outside the box. Seek advice from top/trendy market leaders if you don't have the brain to do it yourself!
