Pros

My team was great to work with.

Cons

The company has changed greatly in the last year. I went from loving the company to really disliking working here.

Background I was fresh out of school when joining Tenable and was in a 100% remote position.

HR I don’t know a single person that had something good to say about HR. My biggest grip is that there is a lack of transparency. Want to change jobs internally? HR will fight it. You got that internal job change? Great! But HR will fight and win so you don't get a pay increase even if the recruiter and manager said there was going to be a pay bump. Oh, now you don't want the job? Too bad. You don't get an offer for internal job changes; you just get moved. Worked hard to help reach that important deadline? HR doesn't care about that; they only see how many years of experience you have. Taking on more responsibility in hopes for a promotion or title change? LOL. Remember, work experience is the only thing they care about. Your manager is trying to keep hold of people on your team? HR does not care; just hire someone new because it doesn't matter that your team is already understaffed.

Being “fresh” out of school I don’t recommend getting a job at Tenable if you are young with very little full-time work (after college) on your resume. There was not a career path when I was there. No matter your output, if your manager likes you, or how much responsibility you have, you will be held back just because of the years of experience due to some unspoken HR bull crap. I recommend only joining if you have at least 4 years of full-time work after college.

Short-sighted decisions There are some questionable choices by higher management which seem like they did not think things through completely. It seems like if some of their experiments don’t reach their high (sometimes nearly impossible) results, things will be axed even if things were headed in the right direction.

Pay This really depends on the person and the manager they have. Some of my friends' pay is a pro to them, but they joined Tenable a couple of years before me. But it seems like in the last year they have been way more stringent about off-schedule raises, and their normal yearly raise was low. Pay really becomes a problem when people with different titles are basically doing the same work. (Sucks if you are young).

Yeah, all the other negative reviews are true.

Advice to Management

Morale and trust are low on so many teams.

People are assuming others are getting fired over leaving the company when accounts get disabled. A lot of people are actively looking for jobs outside Tenable or considering leaving.

There are some people whose biggest wish was that they could just work from 9-5.

You have made choices that will put a higher workload on the devs, which I feel was underestimated at the time of my departure. If you do another death march like you did at the start of this year, you will be bleeding some of the best talent.

Good luck.

Also, don’t threaten to deny PTO again when you hit the next major deadline.
