Powertrain Controls Engineer Interview Experience - Palo Alto, California

Process

The overall process took 2 months. I am still not sure why they rejected my profile (I can only make guesses).

Here is a breakdown of the stages:

  • Recruiter: Basic screening
  • Senior Engineer: Some technical questions relevant to the role
  • Hiring Manager: Deep dive into a specific project I worked on
  • Take-Home Test: More conceptual (48 hours duration)
  • On-site Interview: At first, we had to present any of our previous projects to a panel of 6 people, each of whom asked some questions at the end. This was followed by 1-on-1 interviews with each panelist for the rest of the day. It was 100% technical and took 7 hours straight.

My advice: Just sleep well before the on-site interview. I had trouble sleeping in a new place, and the day was very tiring. So, see to it when you get to this stage.
