Product Engineer Interview Experience - Reno, Nevada

Process

I applied to a few relevant positions online. A recruiter reached out to me with another position, and after an introductory phone call, they scheduled a phone screening with the hiring manager. I was asked to present my skills and background.

With limited guidance on what details to include, coupled with an NDA requirement from my current job, I gave a high-level overview of my work experience. This was a big mistake. The hiring manager was looking for specifics. Once they understood I didn't have those, they grew visibly impatient. At the end, I was told they didn't want to proceed because they "didn't have anything to go off of."

If you are asked to present something, make sure you reach out to the recruiter before the interview to get as much guidance as you can. This saves you time and helps you prepare better.
