A recruiter reached out on LinkedIn on August 9th. After a brief chat, we agreed to connect by phone on August 15th at 10 am. The recruiter never called and sent a message at 10:17 am asking to reschedule.
We connected the next day, and I quickly understood that the recruiter knew next to nothing about the position or the team, and very little about the company. We agreed to schedule a phone interview.
I was called at the scheduled time on August 28th, but not by the person I was scheduled with. We had a good chat, and then the recruiter reached out for my availability for an onsite interview. I gave my availability for the following Thursday. The recruiter said I would be hearing from their Recruiting Coordinator about the detailed schedule.
I followed up on the Tuesday before the interview. Wednesday evening, I received a reply from the recruiter stating he forgot to schedule it and asking if I could do Friday instead. I rearranged my plans and confirmed.
On Friday, the interview went quite smoothly, thanks in part to the wonderful coordinator. I felt we had some great conversations and walked out pretty confident that I could expect next steps. I was told I would be hearing back in the next 2-3 business days.
Over the next three weeks, I tried to reach the recruiter via email and phone to no avail. I finally got the coordinator on the phone today, and she said she would follow up with the recruiter. Shortly after, I received a very generic "went with another candidate" response.
