Pros

Huge potential for learning on the job and career growth. Freedom and ability to execute big projects rapidly. Lots of hard-working people at Tesla who really care about their job despite all the reasons not to. Compensation ranges from mediocre to very good, especially if you get lucky timing the stock price.

Cons

Erratic, inconsistent policies led by a CEO famous for them. Consistently poor planning, schedules, and timelines show up in a lot of annoying ways, like inadequate parking, critical services being shut down or updated with little or no notice, and draconian HR policies implemented based on a single-sentence email or tweet. A talent exodus often sees the brightest, most driven employees leaving for better opportunities, and layoffs rarely target the least productive members of the team.

Diversity teams have been gutted, with some leaders being specifically targeted during layoffs. Rather than being a highlight of the company, they now operate on the DL to avoid the ire of the CEO. Compared to the company culture pre-2020, Tesla is a hollow shell of itself that has given up on the market it created.
