Software Engineer Interview Experience - Canada

Process

I applied online and was reached out to by a recruiter several days later for a technical phone interview, which was held the other day (no feedback yet).

They used an in-browser chat application that required a plugin, along with a phone call for audio, and I was expected to screen share. It's strange that they would go through all this trouble instead of using HackerRank and a phone call.

The interview itself was very awkward. I gave a PowerPoint presentation on myself (as requested), which I think was well received; however, my interviewer seemed impossibly uninterested in the position or the work done at TI. Instead of actually asking me technical questions, my interviewer copied and pasted them into the chat application and only said, "I posted a question for you." I was taken aback by the fact that he didn't even have the energy to talk to me about a question he was asking.

When it was time for me to ask questions, I was given pretty shallow replies despite some digging. I tried to really engage with my interviewer and managed to get some answers to the questions I was asking.

It was really hard for me to get any kind of inspiration to pursue a career at Texas Instruments through this interview, and I will not be proceeding with my application. I think TI needs to devote some time to updating its hiring process.
