The interview started with a brief self-introduction and a discussion of my previous backend experience. The interviewer then went deeper into several system design and engineering topics, including handling high traffic, idempotency, distributed consistency, database indexing, data archiving, asynchronous processing, reconciliation, and downstream protection. There were also questions about cross-team collaboration, development workflow, and designing systems for global users. The interview ended with a medium-level coding problem. Overall, the discussion was practical and focused heavily on real-world engineering trade-offs.
