The technical screen was one round, conducted over Coderpad.
The on-site interview consisted of five rounds:
- Coding on a computer
- Whiteboard design
- A lunch interview
Only engineers interviewed me; I did not meet with the hiring manager.
Questions
The interview was mostly coding, with some system design and a lunch interview. These were usual questions, and nothing too difficult.

Pros: Good brand. Nice perks and benefits. Nice HQ, with unlimited free parking spots.
Lots of strong engineers.
Cons: The engineering hiring bar was inconsistent, and sometimes candidates who did poorly in interviews eventually got hired as a result of a significantly lowered bar.
This is why you would see folks with 10 years of software development experience working as junior Software Engineers (not even Software Engineer II) at TripAdvisor.
Now, good engineers have to tolerate working with those folks, teaching them over and over again how to write code that does not suck.
