The initial communication and all phases of the interview went fine. I believe I performed well in the interviews.
I designed Minesweeper from scratch and wrote the algorithm for playing the game. However, they rejected me, stating that I was not fast enough at coding.
This seems like a lame reason for rejection. A software engineering job requires more than just coding speed. Problem-solving skills, the ability to identify corner cases, and holistic design thinking are crucial.
It's not appropriate to label a task a "design problem" if the primary requirement is faster coding or algorithm implementation.
This was a waste of time, and I will not be applying again.
