Software Engineer Interview Experience

January 1, 2014
Positive ExperienceNo Offer

Process

I was asked to explain what a Hash Table, a Heap, and Red-Black Trees are and why someone would use them.

Aside from that, I was also asked to write a program that, given a number n, would run the 'collatz' conjecture until it reached 1 and print each number along the way.

Questions

There were no difficult questions, per se. It was all about whether I remembered how each data structure worked and if I was comfortable enough with each one to give real reasons for using it.
