There will be a phone call, mainly discussing my background and some personal situations. They want to make sure the candidate will stay long, as the turnover is quite high there. I think they will hire right away if the candidate is suitable.
Questions
Nothing very challenging. One question was: What is the most challenging thing you have done in a work situation? I think they want to hire people with direct experience to be able to contribute immediately.

Pros: (1) This is a very large company and has many different kinds of jobs. You could learn things in many different departments.
(2) Very stable company. You won't be laid off until you do something terribly wrong.
Cons: The working hours could be very long sometimes for an engineer. The average working hours are 8:30 AM till 8:00 PM-9:00 PM. When abnormal things happen in the Fab, you might need to work till 11:00 PM for two or more weeks.
After mid-2008, the stock bonus was cut to 60% of the past. However, working hours did not change.

Pros: 1. Large company.
2. Good payment for semiconductor-related jobs.
3. Morris is a really nice CEO.
4. Nice place for new grads who want to learn the best technology of R&D here in Taiwan.
Cons: 1. Too much paperwork and too many meetings for an engineer.
2. Work hours are too long compared to the payment.
3. For engineers in the physical design/EDA field, there are many better choices compared to TSMC.
