Intelligent Manufacturing Engineer Interview Experience

Process

I applied online.

I interviewed for the Intelligent Manufacturing Engineer position in fall 2024. Despite an initial scheduling issue, my first-round interview with two male interviewers was positive and professional. Unfortunately, the second round with two manufacturing managers was a completely different experience, primarily due to one female manager's behavior.

Throughout the interview, her tone and facial expressions came across as dismissive and condescending. She repeatedly turned her camera on to ask questions, then turned it off while I was answering, making it difficult to maintain a natural two-way conversation or read her reactions. She also repeated essentially the same questions up to three times without clarifying what additional information she expected. Combined with her demeanor, this created an unnecessarily uncomfortable and discouraging atmosphere.

I fully understand that technical interviews can be challenging, but there is a difference between evaluating a candidate's qualifications and making them feel belittled. I did not want to share this negative experience online, however, it significantly affected my confidence and continued to influence how I approached future interviews. I hope TSMC places greater emphasis on professionalism and mutual respect throughout its hiring process.
