Backend Developer Interview Experience - Madrid, Spain

Process

They sent me a message on LinkedIn asking for my approval. When I said yes, they sent me a HackerRank test without any prior conversation.

I requested a conversation where they could clear up my doubts, talk about the company, and ask me briefly about my last experience and job position.

So, I took the test. Two days later, they informed me they preferred other candidates.

How can you assess someone's work with a single test? If you're looking for the perfect coder, go to the HackerRank top leaderboard, GitHub, and other platforms. But please, respect my time.

I encourage you to ask for payment next time you require candidates to go through a long recruitment process, because this is not fair unless you finally get the job.

They insisted, and I thought there was a strong reason, so I tried. However, Twilio did not deserve my precious time.

Questions

General questions about my last experience, the salary I looked for, and my current job position (lead, technical, etc.).

Hackerrank tests are pretty similar to LeetCode ones. Just search for top tech companies' code questions. They change the title of the problem, but the exercise itself is the same.
