Software Engineer - Platform SRE Interview Experience - Sydney, Australia

Process

The first interview session was a phone screen with a recruiter at Twilio. I was asked why I wanted to join Twilio and how much experience I had with various technologies and engineering areas that the role required.

At the end of the session, I was emailed a timed HackerRank test to complete. I didn't feel the recruiter was very excited about the company or the role, and I could tell he was asking questions simply to tick them off a checklist. At one stage, I heard an audible sigh from the recruiter after he finished asking a question.

The HackerRank was a 60-minute challenge where I had to solve two problems: one algorithmic and one object-oriented/design in nature. I implemented most of the solution but couldn't quite get it to work by the end of the 60 minutes.

I received an email a couple of days later notifying me that I would not be moving to the next round.
