Process

The interview process was lengthy, taking over a month. HR was nice to keep me updated on each and every step during the process.

  • HR reached out via email through LinkedIn.
  • Applied on the Twilio website for the job sent by HR.
  • HR sent a HackerRank test containing 3 questions of medium difficulty, which took 3 hours to complete.
  • HR got back to me the next day with a confirmation that all questions were correct and scheduled a virtual on-site.
  • A different HR person called to walk me through the interview process, stating there were 5 open positions and 13 candidates to interview.
  • There were 3 rounds, each with 45 minutes: one with an Engineering Manager, one with a Sr. Solutions Architect, and one with a Lead Solutions Architect. All three interviews were medium difficulty, with a mix of technical and behavioral questions. There was also a 45-minute project presentation where all three interviewers attended.
  • Post-interview, there was a 15-minute HR call to discuss the interview experience and gather feedback.
  • HR got back with feedback after 2 days, stating I did an awesome job and was being considered for the next round, but she would confirm next Friday after other candidates were interviewed.
  • After a week, HR got back and informed me I was among the shortlisted candidates and they wanted to proceed with a Bar Raiser interview, which was the final interview.
  • The Bar Raiser interview was 45 minutes, and the interviewer said I performed excellently.
  • After 2 days, I reached out to HR. HR called back with an update and said they had made a decision and were going with other candidates, as they only had 2 open positions at that time. I was ranked 3rd in their list.
  • HR consolidated that if any new positions opened in the next month or so, I would be on the priority list.

Overall, it was a lengthy process that took 4 weeks of mental burden with no outcome. I had to take one PTO from work and spent 3 hours at night to complete the HackerRank test. I'm not sure how the open positions suddenly reduced to 2 from 5.
