Pros

Flexible work environment, unlimited PTO, and good parental leave benefits.

Cons

Many at the SVP level or higher were promoted because they were at the right place at the right time and lacked leadership or strategic experience necessary to successfully run their teams/departments.

Lots of good people leave because of this. In turn, more who lack experience are promoted to levels they aren't qualified for.

Advice to Management

Twilio's Board of Directors really needs to pay more attention to the executive team, overall voluntary turnover rates, tenure, and holding leaders accountable for their inability to set strategic goals they aren't delivering on. Unlike the excuses being used, it just can't always be external environmental factors out of their control causing the issues. Maybe try asking, "What would they have done differently to ensure better success on failures?" instead of letting them make excuses that support the bad results.
