I applied for a Software Test Engineer position at Unity in Bellevue, Washington.

• Applied for the position through the Unity website. Received an automated confirmation and was contacted by a recruiter five days later to schedule a phone call.

• After speaking with the recruiter, I scheduled a phone call with a Test Manager a couple of days later. Following this conversation, I received a coding worksheet with several computer science and coding questions. The worksheet had to be returned within two days. It required writing a couple of programs with automated tests and submitting the code.

• After submitting the worksheet, I had a Google Hangouts interview with the Head QA Manager of North America. A few days later, I received an invitation for an on-site interview.

• The on-site interview consisted of three interviews, each with two developers or testers. Question topics included educational background, previous work experience, preferred work environment, computer science, test strategies, working with developers, and game industry experience.

• Received an offer the following day.

Overall, everyone I spoke with was friendly and professional. The entire interview experience was pleasant, and I was kept informed of the process at every step. Along with technical abilities, cultural fit was a topic that came up many times. Being familiar with Unity and having a Unity project posted on the Unity Connect website was a plus. I was asked by every interviewer about my personal Unity project.

Unity has received an SDK for a new hardware device and is integrating it into the software.
