Pros
  • Good work environment on my direct team, up to two levels of leadership.
  • No crunch or overtime.
  • Employer shifted gradually to remote jobs for most roles.
  • Pretty bilingual; most are fluent in English anyway due to internationally hired (or remote) teams and lots of business and public communication in English.
  • Smaller perks like a cafeteria, one afternoon happy hour (locally called 5@7) to socialize, a couple of drinks, snacks, and fancy coffee machines.
Cons

Lots of layoffs, similar to the games/tech industry. They are also streamlining towards new 2-to-5-year goals. This requires some navigation and estimation to determine future direction and company potential.

There's some friction in core departments due to politics, although many state that fresh, good seniors/architects with strong experience and a firm stance can make a difference.

Advice to Management

Look more into friction in core tech departments that haven't moved much in the last 5+ years due to very small teams, overly democratic/soft decisions, or possibly less qualified teams that could shift to better positions (plus hire good talent).
