Pros: Great company in adapting the latest and greatest technology. They are continuously upgrading their system up to market level. So much to learn, it's an ocean for DBAs because of heavy/large databases. Flexible culture.

Cons: Very bad politics; layoffs every year; cost-cutting on resources.

Pros: The technology and systems are challenging. Many database environments have RAC and SharePoint. This is a blessing and a burden.

Cons: Much overnight work, frequent crises, and a demanding work environment. Shareplex probably increases the problems and alerts by threefold. The applications I supported are very demanding and require off-hours for most of the changes, which were frequent. I'm talking about 11 PM or 2 AM start times, and it often was 6-8 hours of work. They require a lot of Oracle patching and 8 Enterprise releases per year for many applications, and that's something that runs on weekends for about 12-18 hours. Most people have had enough after 1-2 years.

Pros: They have the latest technology. Onsite seminars, training, and demo sessions.

Cons: The work environment is filled with rude and mean employees and managers. The whole IT work culture is stressful, especially the Database Administration Group. They don't share knowledge. They make you work like a slave. They give no respect to contractors.
