Software Engineer Interview Experience - Hyderābād, Telangana

February 1, 2017
Negative ExperienceNo Offer

Process

Worst interview experience ever.

Job requirement was not clear. It said they are looking for Node.js, Angular.js, and Java developers. I enrolled for Node.js developer. The recruiter shortlisted my profile and invited me for the interview.

I tried to reach the recruiter on the number she shared when I reached the venue, but she never answered the calls.

I wasn't told it would be a walk-in, but there were about 100 candidates.

The interview was arranged in their cafeteria, yes, "cafeteria". There were just 3 panels, again in the cafeteria, separated by dining tables.

Worst of all, all the candidates had to wait for 4-5 hours for their turn.

I waited there, sitting idle, wasting my time for about 5 hours, then I was called. However, I was sent back in just 5 minutes without having my skills tested. The interviewee said they are looking for someone who also has experience with Java along with Node.js, but he would surely forward my profile for further discussion. Later in the evening, I received an email that I am not qualified.

I never expected this horrible experience from a reputed company like Verizon.

I don't understand why they shortlisted my profile in the first place when they think I'm not suitable.

And I don't understand how someone can decide if I am suitable within 5 minutes without testing my skills?

The recruiter was unprofessional at various moments; she even shouted at some of the candidates for talking with others after their interview was done.

And interviews in the cafeteria? Seriously?

No one has the right to make others wait for hours, or rather waste their time. More panels, allocating specific times to each candidate for when they need to come to the venue, and etc. So many things can be done to prevent wasting time. But these guys have other things in mind.

I would never look back at Verizon thanks to this horrible experience.
