Pros

Having the Verizon company name on your resume seems to help get your foot through the door when applying for other positions.

Cons

Being a contractor, you don't have much say on anything. They treat you like a second-class citizen and don't give you any opportunities to be part of any projects you know you can contribute to. When I first came on board, I found out that full-time employees of Verizon got a two-week onboarding training. This would've been super helpful for contractors as well. Verizon is a huge company, and there are many services and things you need to be aware of to do your job effectively. I worked with two other people who were contractors. They put in extra hours without getting time and a half or any pay at all. They worked during the weekends and after hours during the week. Verizon does state often they want you to have a work-life balance, but it's all BS.

Advice to Management

Many times I have asked my manager for more work. He kept telling me he would give me work and never did.
