Pros

Verizon still a profitable company in 2013.

Cons

I worked for MCI, but Verizon bought it. They took coffee machines from brake rooms and canceled the option to work from home. Management doesn’t care about people; we are just numbers to them. They feel like they owe you nothing. They may tell you to work 12 hours a day, 6-7 days a week without pay. It looks like IT is moving out of the US. My group is only 10% onshore.

In 2013, there were layoffs in IT, and this continues every month.

Advice to Management

Keep knowledge in a company.

Really take care of people, not just explain what Verizon expects from them.

Make employees enjoy the work and not think about what they need to do to survive one more layoff.
