Sometimes unfair to its employees. Speaking from my personal opinion, there was a recent change in management in our group, and so the new boss brought along his own team with him. From the very start, he was indifferent to some of the existing members, and when it was time for RIF, a couple of existing guys had to go. I was not even given a chance to prove myself, and no old references were taken into account. It feels like all these years of working for Verizon went down the drain.
Senior management should at least talk to people who are being laid off or check old references. They should not blindly act on immediate boss' feedback, especially when there has been a recent change in management.
