Pros

Good benefit package, 401k matched to 6% & fully vested at 3 years.

Cons

Because of its size, Verizon is very process/procedure driven and loses sight of the people that are its biggest asset. In fact, it is too easy to get lost in the huge structure, ultimately becoming more anonymous than noticed for your personal contributions.

My entire business unit was essentially ambushed and off-shored before we had a chance to affect that outcome.

In general, stay away from careers at Verizon if you are able to. Else, stay wary of circling sharks if you can see them.

Advice to Management

Employing talent needs to achieve and maintain a two-way street.

Like most large, tech-based companies, Verizon needs a diverse and talented pool of people, but then turns around and starts looking at groups of people as single units, de-humanizing the experience.

Change this, or you will never get the full potential of your hires.
