I applied online for the Senior DevOps Engineer - Kubernetes position on the company website and was contacted regarding my availability for an interview with a member of the recruiting team.
During the interview, the recruiter provided a brief overview of the team's work and assigned a HackerRank coding challenge. I explained my approach to the solution, completed it, and then corrected compilation errors.
At the end, the interviewer noted that I used hashes and arrays to solve the problem, suggesting it could be achieved solely with hashes. The next day, I received an automated email stating they would not be moving forward with my application.
There can be multiple ways to solve a problem. I believe the interviewer should primarily focus on the approach, syntax, and the ability to complete the solution, but in my case, this was not the focus. It felt like the interviewer solely considered my different approach compared to their expectations.
Firstly, I did not apply for a Developer/QA Automation role where coding skills are the main evaluation. Although I thought they might want to assess my approach and other aspects, the interview felt more like one for a developer role.
I am certified and have experience in Kubernetes, AWS, and DevOps. I am disappointed that I was rejected without a single question related to the job description I applied for or my experience. Their candidate evaluation process should be adjusted to align with the specific role.
There is a file with multiple columns: hostname, HTTP request, time, and a few others. The output should show how many times each host has an entry with an HTTP request from the given file.
