Process

The HR contacted me after finding my resume online. She informed me that there would be no more than three interview rounds:

  1. A telephonic round with the Director.
  2. A HackerRank coding assessment.
  3. A coding interview.

Initially, she mentioned that if the telephonic round went well, they would schedule the HackerRank assessment. The process felt unorganized.

On a Friday evening, she emailed me to schedule a telephonic interview for Monday at 2 PM, hoping the director would accept. She never asked for my availability. I had no information about the job description or the team I would be interviewing with, which seemed unprofessional. In short, I had no idea what to prepare for.

As I was unwell that weekend, I declined the interview on Monday and rescheduled it for Wednesday. Immediately, I received an email stating I could proceed with the HackerRank test, but I had to complete it within three days from Monday. I was told I wouldn't be given five days because I rescheduled the first round and postponed it by two days. This felt illogical.

I managed to finish the test. Up to this point, the recruiter seemed eager to interview and conclude the process quickly. However, after the HackerRank assessment, it has been three weeks with no updates. The recruiter is unresponsive to emails and phone calls. All I know is she has been reviewing my HackerRank results for almost three weeks. I disliked the entire process.

Questions

Round 1: Telephonic - 30 minutes

The director was late by 10 minutes. Learning that I had no Java work experience, he put me on hold for 10 minutes to kill time. In the last 10 minutes, he asked me some questions.

At Visa, people are not interested if you have no work experience in Java. Even if you have worked on any other object-oriented programming language, people consider you not fit to join Visa. Damn it, I don't understand why they even shortlisted my profile when it's clear from my resume I have no experience with J2EE specifically. This is the second similar experience I've had with Visa. I interviewed with them for an internship as well.

Questions: What is OOP? What is Polymorphism? What is inheritance? What are a table, view, and materialized view? Difference between truncate and delete, table and view.
