Telephonic interview for about 15 minutes.
Basic Java questions covered collections, multithreading, synchronization, exception handling, OOPS concepts, and how to make objects immutable.
1st round: Implement sorting for a list of names in a string, both ascending and in design order. A laptop was provided, and coding was done in an IDE.
2nd round: Discussion on design patterns. Code on a whiteboard to implement a Singleton pattern and write a JUnit test for it. Included behavioral questions like "why you," Agile methodology, and a general discussion on technologies from the resume.
3rd round: Write code on a whiteboard to implement a tree and add an element at a particular node.
4th round: Phone interview due to the interviewer's unavailability. Questions covered "why contracting," technologies used in previous projects, and technical concepts like heap vs. stack, multithreading, synchronization, Java pass-by-value, and comparing strings (equals or == and why).
5th round: Implement sorting of strings, write a JUnit test for the same, and mock a database call.
