A third-party recruiter reached out to me for the role at Walmart. I was interested, so I sent her my resume.

She forwarded it to an on-site third-party recruiter who contacted me for a quick screen interview to see if I had potential, with just job history questions.

I was told by the junior third-party recruiter that their firm decided to forward my resume to the Hiring Manager (HM). She told me that Walmart has a panel that decides who starts the interview process with them. They ended up choosing me, apparently.

The jr. recruiter scheduled a Zoom meeting with me within the next 3 days. I had a choice of two days at similar times.

I asked the junior recruiter what to expect in this interview. She told me I'd have a meet and greet with the manager, followed by a panel of 4 people with one question for me.

She was very wrong. My expectations were not correctly set, and I was not prepared for what happened.

What actually happened was the HM (a nice guy) did the meet and greet and explained that if I passed him, he'd start the next step, which would be an 'on-site' (but virtual) meeting about management style. This was followed by another interview via a panel who would have more difficult coding challenges for me and some architecture/networking-like challenges.
