Busy, Social, But Overwhelmed
It can be a good job if you're a social person and enjoy small talk with customers, and occasionally co-workers if it's not busy.
It can often feel like there's a lot that needs to be done, and the front end is always busy. I.e., there will always be lines at self-checkout, customer service, and the registers. It's the one part of the store that all customers pass through.
