Had to pay bills, so it was okay. It's okay for a part-time gig

Pros

People were good to me. They helped me get my confidence up. I was able to pay off some of my student loans and save a bit of money.

Cons

The training is subpar at my store. It feels like management just wants to please the person above them at all times. There were times that I had racked up over 100 hours of PTO and PPTO combined (vacation and sick time, respectively), and it was hard to ask for time off, or I would get rejected for vacation, with the reasoning being "No coverage." I generally asked about 3-6 months in advance.

Advice to Management

Allow your employees to take the vacations they generally deserve.

The payment structure you guys have is a little underwhelming. Someone who has been with the company for a long time would be at the same pay rate as someone who just walked in from the street.

Have a system that keeps track of your pay raises and then add it to the base pay. Example: if someone who has been there for 10 years and has accrued $1.25 in pay raises and the base pay for that position went up $2, then add that $1.25 to the new base pay. Obviously, have a soft and hard cap to the amount they can make in that position, but don't just wipe away all their time spent at the company with a $2 pay raise.
