Process

Applied through Turner website. Was asked by Tech Recruiter several weeks later for an interview with the position manager. Talked on the phone for about 30 minutes about the position and job environment. Was given a small coding test to develop a website from a mock PSD file. Submitted it and was asked for a Skype interview the following week. Was told they were going with another candidate; overall, no opinion on the experience.

Questions

Warner Bros. Discovery Work Experiences

Fun Projects, Tough Integration

Full Stack Web Developer • Current Employee

Atlanta, Georgia, United States

Pros: You get to work with fun, real-world projects that you can see the result of on TV. Pretty good work-life balance. I like the direction the company is going overall.

Cons: WarnerMedia is a Frankenstein of older companies. There is finally a serious push to unify and simplify all businesses, applications, and processes, but it is tough to deal with. Also, on my specific team, I've wondered at times if management was making the best decision or was neglecting older applications that were difficult to understand.

Great Culture, Corporate Shift

VP Engineering • Former Employee

Atlanta, Georgia, United States

Pros: Back when we were Turner, there was a very strong legacy and a very family-oriented culture. There were endless opportunities to explore new ideas, technologies, and challenges. You were encouraged to take risks.

Cons: After the 2018 acquisition, the culture began to erode and it became more corporate. There seemed to be less focus on employees and risk-taking. Also, all of the focus went to HBO Max, which left many of the brands in the lurch.
