The interview process consisted of 4 rounds, 1 hour each.

The first two rounds were conducted by a third party, Foraysoft, which hires Wayfair employees in India on their payroll.

The other 2 rounds were conducted by the Wayfair team in the US.

The first round was a coding round with a medium HackerRank problem to solve. The second round was a system design round. The next two rounds were taken by a team in the US. Again, the third round was coding, and the fourth round was system design.

The interviewer in the fourth round asked me to design a parking lot, and I was able to deliver the class diagram and DB design. He then asked me which database I should use if there were millions of requests. I tried to explain myself and come to a point, but he said he had a meeting to attend to and left without another word. I was a bit annoyed with his behavior. A system design round should be an open discussion, and instead of discussing the approach with me, he just left five minutes before the interview ended.

I don't know if they are looking for superhumans to do their job, or if they themselves lack basic interview etiquette. They wasted more than four hours of my time, leaving me exhausted and anticipating feedback, which I received the next morning: I was rejected.

I solved all coding problems in the two coding rounds, with all test cases passing. I also discussed ways to optimize my approach. I cleared the first system design round, but things didn't go well in the final moments of the fourth round, where the interviewer left five minutes before letting me explain my approach.

It was a complete waste of time appearing for their interview process.
