Pros

Constantly learning new software technologies.

Cons

Zero work-life balance. Competition for the easiest work on engineering teams leads to long work weeks. Engineers on teams often worked weekends in order to get more done than their teammates.

Poor Agile implementation has ruined business teams who only care about throughput time and hitting delivery estimates. Turnover is high as engineers are given three months to produce or they are let go.

Project managers often dictate the subtasks within projects as opposed to listening to engineering feedback during sprint grooming and planning.

Advice to Management

Fix organizational behavior at director levels.

Respect your engineers.

Practice work-life balance.

More collaboration between business and engineering teams.

Allow dissenting voices to allow the organization to grow.
