Pros

Tech and non-tech employees tend to be deep subject matter experts and collaborative.

Internal sharing of design docs, fleet data, code, and slides helps you stay aware of the latest in how they use ML, data science, raw sensor data, and vehicle dynamics for all-weather autonomy.

It retains many of the good things from Google's culture with some tweaks from consumer-hardware and modern-automotive cultures.

Cons

Business outlook uncertainty and slowing headcount growth.

So far so good for Waymo, but competitors are having a hard time attracting capital, which could be a bearish sign for the pace at which robotaxi fleets expand.

Advice to Management

Even with headcount growth slowing, keep hiring some new grads and summer interns. Some of the strongest engineers came in that way.
