The people were great and very knowledgeable.
Work hours were at times absurd. I was required to be available all day in case the manufacturing teams hit any issues, but I couldn't do any of my own work until they were done with the equipment for the day. This meant I effectively had to work a 9-5 to support the team and then log back in remotely from 8pm to midnight to get my own work done.
When I was initially offered the position, I was led to believe that they were intending to transition me to full time over a few years. After a year, I started to ask what that roadmap might look like going forward, and they began backpedaling hard. I jumped ship six months later, as it was clear to me that I was putting in a lot of effort for little to no growth potential.
Be honest with new hires. Don't lead them to believe there is a hope for a full-time position and then backpedal. That is just going to leave you with a lot of turnover. Also, be cognizant of the hours you are asking people to work.
I was contacted via LinkedIn by Waymo's recruiters (Nelson). I had a phone interview with the Nelson representative. He then sent my resume to Waymo and scheduled me for an interview with one of the managers.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. Totally a mess. Attended a recruiter screen call and received the invitation the same day. But the next round with the hiring manager was scheduled for two weeks later (although I tried to schedule it ASAP
Remote, 2 rounds. Behavioral and technical. This is for a contracting position. Overall, it was a positive experience. Though salary should be adjusted more for location. The job itself was fully remote at the time.
