Process

I was first contacted by a member of their HR team to set up a 30-minute phone screen. Just when I was expecting the recruiter's call for my interview, I was sent an email to notify me that he had accidentally double-booked me with someone else and would have to reschedule. I was a bit annoyed, as I'd moved my schedule around to accommodate the time slot I'd chosen, but I still chose to reschedule.

The phone interview went really well. The recruiter was friendly, easy to talk to, and seemed very open to answering any questions I had. We went over my resume, talked a bit about the company, and finished off with four or five Java-specific questions. I'd studied for this part of the interview by reading all the Java questions people posted in other reviews and looking up common questions online. Pretty much every question he asked me was listed in those resources.

After the phone screen, I was invited to go through a technical interview with one of their engineers the following week. I chose to schedule a day later in the week, as I had a lot of coursework due early on and needed more time to study for the interview. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a mistake. A half hour before my interview was scheduled to start, I received an email from their recruiter saying that he'd just been notified their intern quota had been filled and that my interview had been cancelled. He was very polite and apologetic, but after having spent over ten hours practicing and preparing, an apology was not going to make up for cancelling under such short notice. Perhaps this was a one-time incident, but it made their company come off as inconsiderate of their applicants' time.

TLDR: If you make it to the technical interview, schedule it as early as possible, or you may not get a chance to be interviewed at all.
