Oracle Database Administrator - Contract Interview Experience

Process

I have entertained phone interviews with WF on 3 separate occasions over the last few years and have learned the hard way that it's not the place for me for 3 main reasons.

First, each time the interview has been an Oracle pop quiz. What's the command for X? Which parameter would you change to achieve Y? Which background process is responsible for Z? That sort of thing. Obviously, a pop quiz is NOT an interview; it's a Q&A session. For anyone holding Oracle certifications and/or having some significant depth of experience, it is really insulting to be treated like that. On at least two of the 3 occasions, the Q&A was done with a blatant 'gotcha' type attitude, which I found very condescending.

Second, WF insists on logging your application using 6 digits of your SSN. I'm sorry, but WF does not need that information, and to have the audacity to even ask for it is unbelievable.

Third, WF has always insisted on a fairly substantial skill set, often requiring some top-end skills, knowledge, and experience. That's all well and good, but they don't want to pay for it. They are SO cheap. Certainly, all the recruiters in the Minneapolis market know this. And they're a bank!!! Unbelievable.

Questions

On one occasion, the very first question was a long and convoluted database failure scenario, and I was asked how I would recover from it. The person asking it had a very pronounced Asian accent, and I could barely understand a word they said.

So this was the person WF had selected to conduct the interview, and that was their very first question. I mean, really? What is the point of that?
