Pros: Whatnot has an innovative product, great leadership, and an engaged user base, which makes it an exciting workplace.
We've also hired an excellent team with track records of success. I'm still learning the business and technology from them years after being here.
Outstanding benefits, real focus on user outcomes.
Cons: - Not a good fit for people looking for prescriptive, well-described roles.
The business changes often, and with that, the priorities.
- Full remote workplace makes communication a challenge, but constant effort is put in to improve.

Truly remote-first, growing company

Pros: Genuinely remote-first company - great if you don't enjoy going to offices (but they are there if you do). Culturally similar to big tech brands due to the vast majority being alums from there. Product is fun, and so is the work around it. Perks are incredibly generous compared even to Meta/Google, etc.
Cons: A remote-first culture can sometimes be tricky for new grads or juniors. It's harder to socialize, but there are company offsites and local offices to visit.
Smaller companies can, at times, be chaotic with fewer people per problem space.

Pros: Working with these friendly, kind, and knowledgeable people for several months has given me even more unrealistic hope for my future jobs. As an intern, I sometimes asked very stupid questions, but they never hesitated to answer.
Cons: Hard to comment on HR; they took two months to send me the documents I needed. If you are on H-1b or need to file an I-140, you need to consider this seriously.
